New practice abstracts: ecotoxicological assessments and a new model species for studies
Since its beginning in 2018, PoshBee has been working on transforming its scientific results into practical recommendations. In that spirit, the project has published a total of 16 practice abstracts on the EIP-AGRI platform presenting the practical implications of its results. These concise pieces of information cover the project's full life cycle, from its objectives (presented in practice abstract 1) to its results. In March 2023, to finalise its collection, the project published two new practice abstracts – number 15 and 16.
New PoshBee practice abstracts on the EIP-AGRI platform.
Practice abstract 15
Practice abstract 15 provides insights into the practical aspects of bee ecotoxicological assessments, highlighting the need for large-scale testing of new agrochemicals taking into account multiple relevant bee species, sexes, and castes, as well as exposure routes. The abstract is also available in Estonian.
Practice abstract 16
Practice abstract 16 introduces a new model species for eco-toxicology studies, the ground-nesting hairy-footed flower bee, and offers a system of colonised soil-filled boxes used for evaluating the number, survival, and vitality of the brood within.
PoshBee hopes its collection of practice abstracts will help researchers, practitioners and regulatory authorities better understand the impact of stressors on bees and inform policy decisions.
